CPSO Arrests Keithville Man in Vehicular Homicide Investigation
Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. announced the arrest of a Keithville man in connection with a fatal traffic crash that occurred in May 2025.
On May 28, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m., deputies with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a head-on collision on Colquitt Road, just north of Chandler Road. The crash involved a 2008 Toyota Tundra driven by Michael Lane Watts (White Male, 55 and a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado driven by the victim.
Both drivers were found unconscious at the scene and required extrication by the Caddo Fire District. They were transported to Ochsner LSU Health at 1501 Kings Highway in Shreveport, LA, with life-threatening injuries. Once the victim arrived at the hospital, medical staff pronounced him deceased. Due to Watts needing surgery, deputies were unable to conduct an interview or perform impairment testing at that time.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Sgt. Larry Pierce later obtained a search warrant through the Caddo District Court for Watts' medical records related to his treatment following the crash. The records indicated that medical staff collected a blood sample shortly after Watts arrived at the hospital, which revealed that his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit.
Based on the investigation's findings, an arrest warrant was issued, charging Watts with one count of Vehicular Homicide. The warrant was signed by the Honorable Judge Donald Hathaway, who set bond at $250,000.
On February 10, 2026, deputies located Watts at his residence in the 6300 block of Jersey Gold Road in Keithville. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on the outstanding warrant.
This investigation is ongoing.
