Warning: A phone scam impersonating a Caddo deputy has reemerged
The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam affecting our community, as stated by Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.
Deputies have received reports of scammers impersonating members of the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office. During these calls, the suspects claim to be “Deputy Carl Peterson” or “Sgt. Casey Jones” and provide a callback number of (943) 300-5435. They falsely assert that a family member of the victim is incarcerated at the Caddo Correctional Center and demand immediate payment through Cash App, Bitcoin, or other electronic payment methods.
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office wants to clarify: We will never request payment over the phone or through electronic payment platforms. Law enforcement officers do not solicit money in this manner.
Multiple individuals have already been targeted by this scam. Residents are urged to remain vigilant. If you receive a call like this:
- Hang up immediately.
- Do not send money.
- Do not provide personal information.
- Do not share banking details, gift card numbers, or make cryptocurrency payments.
If you believe you have been targeted or victimized by this scam, please contact the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318-675-2170 to file a report.
Protect yourself and your loved ones by staying alert and verifying any suspicious claims directly with law enforcement using official, publicly listed phone numbers.
Your safety is our priority.
