Post 4910 Explorers - Class 002 Begins at Caddo Parish Sheriff's Safety Town
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office proudly welcomed a new group of young leaders as the second annual 4910 Explorers Class officially began on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Sheriff's Safety Town facility located at 8910 Jewella Avenue in Shreveport.
The Explorer program offers local youth a unique opportunity to learn about careers in law enforcement while developing leadership skills, discipline, and a strong sense of community service. Through hands-on training and mentorship from deputies and instructors, participants gain valuable insights into the daily operations and responsibilities of law enforcement professionals.
During the first session, the Explorers were introduced to the program's expectations, safety guidelines, and the training curriculum they will complete throughout the course. The program will include instruction in various areas such as basic law enforcement procedures, teamwork, communication, and community engagement.
Sheriff's Office officials emphasize that the Explorer program represents an important investment in the future of Caddo Parish by providing young people with opportunities to learn, grow, and explore potential careers in public service.
"The Explorer program allows young men and women to see firsthand what it means to serve their community," said Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. "We are proud to welcome this new class and look forward to helping them build skills that will benefit them for years to come."
The Post 4910 Explorers program is designed for youth interested in leadership development and gaining a better understanding of the criminal justice field. Participants will meet regularly for training sessions and activities led by members of the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office.
