The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is deeply saddened to announce the passing of retired K-9 Nero, a loyal and dedicated member of our agency. Nero faithfully served the citizens of Caddo Parish from August 2019 until his retirement in February 2024.

His work alongside deputies helped protect our community and contributed to the safety and well-being of the residents we are proud to serve. After retiring, Nero was adopted by Corporal Trey Keene, a firearms instructor at the Sheriff's Training Academy. He spent his final years in a loving home with Corporal Keene, his wife, and their two daughters.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office extends its heartfelt condolences to Corporal Keene and his family. Nero was not only a valued partner in law enforcement but also a beloved member of their family.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate K-9 Nero's life and service will be held as follows:

**Time:** 10:30 a.m.  
**Location:** K-9 Cemetery, 15639 Highway 1, Shreveport, Louisiana (Regional Training Academy)  

Members of the public, law enforcement, the media, and friends are invited to attend and pay their respects as we honor the life and legacy of K-9 Nero. His service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.
