The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office invites the community to a special event, "Light Safety Town Blue," in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month.

This event will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 7:45 p.m. at Sheriff's Safety Town, located at 8910 Jewella Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71118.

Certified technicians for children's car seats will also be on hand from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. to provide hands-on assistance with car seat installation, helping ensure children are safely and properly secured.

The initiative aims to highlight the importance of child abuse prevention, early intervention, and our collective responsibility to ensure that children grow up in safe and supportive environments. By lighting Safety Town blue, the Sheriff's Office and community partners aim to raise awareness of an issue affecting families in our region and beyond.

"This event is more than just a visual display; it symbolizes hope, healing, and our ongoing commitment to protecting the youth of Caddo Parish,” stated Sheriff Henry Whitehorn. "Every action, big or small, helps bring attention to this critical issue and reinforces the message that child safety is everyone's responsibility."

Community members, families, and local organizations are encouraged to attend and unite in support of children and families. Together, we can raise awareness, promote prevention, and create a safer future for all children.
