On April 8, 2026, detectives with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into a reported domestic abuse incident involving a juvenile and her guardian after being notified by officials at a local High School.

School personnel contacted authorities after the student reported she had been physically assaulted earlier that morning at her residence. The juvenile stated her guardian caused injuries to her upper body during an altercation.

During the investigation, detectives interviewed school staff and worked in coordination with the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services. The juvenile was later referred to the Gingerbread House Children's Advocacy Center in Shreveport for a forensic interview, during which she provided a detailed account of the incident and other information regarding a prior unreported event.

As a result of the investigation, Yataaka Shine, 46, of the 5600 block of Buncombe Road, was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Battery and transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where she was booked in on the aforementioned charge. 

This case underscores the importance of timely reporting and highlights the collaborative efforts of school officials, child protection services, and law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of our juveniles.
