A 17-year-old resident of Mooringsport has been arrested following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault, according to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.

Detectives from the Special Victims Unit initiated the investigation after receiving a report from a victim who claimed they were sexually assaulted by the suspect, Dakota Weems, 17 years old.

During the investigation, detectives interviewed Weems, and after further investigation, he was arrested for third-degree rape. He was then transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on the aforementioned charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
