Caddo Parish Sheriff's detectives are investigating a shooting that left one person injured early Saturday morning, May 2, 2026, according to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.

At approximately 3:33 AM, detectives responded after a victim arrived at North Caddo Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of the head. The victim was later transported to Ochsner Medical Center for further treatment, where she remains in stable condition and is expected to recover.

The victim was driven to the hospital by another individual who initially left the scene. During the preliminary investigation, the victim identified the suspect as Shanteria Morris, 38. According to the victim, the shooting occurred during an argument.

Caddo Parish patrol deputies located the person who transported the victim and identified the suspect, Shanteria Morris of Hosston, at the medical center. Both individuals were then taken to the Criminal Investigations Division for questioning.

Following interviews and the collection of evidence, including statements from the victim and witnesses, detectives established probable cause to believe that Morris shot the victim with a handgun during the altercation. Morris was then transported to the Caddo correctional center, where she was booked for attempted second-degree murder.

This investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
