Supporting children in foster care and recognizing the families who care for them will be the focus of an upcoming foster parenting awareness event led by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Family Resource Center of Volunteers for Youth Justice and the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services.

The event will take place Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Sheriff’s Safety Town, located at 8910 Jewella Avenue in Shreveport. Lunch will be provided.

Community members, foster parents, and local partners are invited to attend and learn more about the experiences of children in the foster care system while exploring ways to offer support. The program will also recognize the work of foster parents and emphasize the importance of assisting the foster care system through community involvement and policy awareness.
