Patrol Deputies with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office arrested two men on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, after they were discovered attempting to steal tools from a property in the 9800 block of Louisiana Highway 1.

Deputies originally responded to the location on March 13, 2026, after the property owner reported the theft of a forklift. Following that incident, the owner installed security cameras to monitor the property while detectives continued their investigation.

On May 20, Sgt. Nathan Wesson was notified by the property owner that a white Dodge Ram had entered the property and activated the newly installed security cameras. The footage showed two male subjects walking around the property.

Sgt. Wesson notified patrol deputies and responded to the scene, where he discovered two men actively attempting to steal tools from the property. He detained both individuals until additional deputies arrived.
The suspects were identified as 61-year-old Jerry Cooper of Jefferson, Texas, and 63-year-old Dale Wilcox of Mira, Louisiana.

During the investigation, deputies located a sawed-off shotgun inside the Dodge Ram.

Cooper and Wilcox were both arrested and taken to the Caddo Correctional Center. Cooper was charged with simple burglary, while Wilcox was charged with simple burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The investigation remains ongoing.
