35th Annual Caddo Sheriff's Camp Concludes Successfully
The 35th Annual Caddo Parish Sheriff's Camp concluded today after four days of outdoor adventure, mentorship, and personal growth for 26 boys and girls from across Caddo Parish.
Campers ages 9-12 participated in a variety of activities designed to build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills at the Kinsey Scout Reservation. Throughout the camp, participants enjoyed fishing, swimming, archery, BB gun education, team sports, and other outdoor recreational experiences while developing positive relationships with deputies from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office.
"This camp continues to be one of the most rewarding programs we offer to the youth of Caddo Parish," said Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. "Over the past several days, these young people have had the opportunity to learn new skills, make new friends, and create memories that will last a lifetime. We are proud to invest in our youth and provide experiences that encourage confidence, responsibility, and teamwork."
Founded by former Sheriff Don Hathaway in 1989, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Camp has served thousands of local children over the past 35 years. This year marked a historic milestone as girls were welcomed to participate in the camp for the first time.
The camp is offered free of charge to attendees through private donations raised by the Sheriff. The Norwela Council of Scouting America provided food, lodging, activities, and staff support, while Caddo deputies volunteered their time as mentors and role models throughout the week.
Sheriff Whitehorn expressed his appreciation to the donors, volunteers, deputies, community partners, and most of all the "PARENTS" whose support made the camp possible.
"The success of this program is a direct result of the generosity and dedication of so many people who believe in investing in the next generation," Whitehorn said. "We thank everyone who helped make this year's camp a memorable and meaningful experience for our campers."
As the campers return home, they leave with new friendships, valuable life lessons, and memories from a tradition that has positively impacted Caddo Parish youth for more than three decades.
