A Caddo Parish man was arrested following a single-vehicle crash on July 4, which led to an investigation for impaired driving and drug possession, according to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.

At approximately 9:26 a.m. on that day, deputies from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a crash in the 11800 block of Greenwood-Springridge Road. The driver, Samuel McClure, 34, of the 8500 block of Ridge Road, was transported to a local hospital by the Caddo Fire District before deputies were able to make contact with him at the scene.

During their investigation, deputies found that McClure was in possession of suspected narcotics and showed signs of impairment, which they believe contributed to the crash. As part of the driving while intoxicated (DWI) investigation, McClure voluntarily consented to provide blood and urine samples. The investigation is still ongoing, pending the Louisiana Crime Lab's analysis results.

After McClure was medically cleared at the hospital, Deputy S. Monroe discovered additional suspected controlled dangerous substances on him, including a small amount of methamphetamine, Subutex, and marijuana.

McClure was transported to the Caddo Correctional Center and booked  on the following charges:
- Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (La. R.S. 40:967(C))
- Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance (La. R.S. 40:968(C))
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (La. R.S. 40:1023(C))
- Driving Under Suspension (La. R.S. 32:415)

The DWI investigation was conducted by Corporal Grimes and remains active while awaiting laboratory results from the Louisiana Crime Lab. Additional charges may be filed upon completion of the investigation.
