Task Force busts up Oil City meth lab

Four people were arrested Wednesday night after Caddo-Shreveport narcotics agents discovered a working meth lab at an Oil City residence.

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator and Shreveport Police Chief Henry Whitehorn said agents received a tip that the occupants of 205 Weaver Loop might be manufacturing meth at their house. Agents conducted a brief investigation and found a working lab in a bedroom of the residence. There were also three children in the house, ages 1, 2, and 3, while the cooking process was taking place.

Arrested were Jason Macon, 33, of 205 Weaver Loop; Jennifer Batts, 31, of 203 Weaver Loop; Christie Hervey, 40, of 205 Weaver Loop; and Samantha Morton, 22, of the 9100 block of Blanchard Furrh Road. All four were booked into Caddo Correctional Center for creation of a clandestine lab, cruelty to juveniles; and possession/manufacturing of schedule II narcotics. Macon and Batts were also booked for possession of schedule III and IV narcotics.

The children were removed from the home and placed in the care of the Department of Social Services.
