Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office detectives arrested Thomas Scott Smith, 42, on charges stemming from an alleged violation of a protective order and unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling, according to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.

On August 7, 2026, Detective Ardoin from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office Investigation Unit was informed of an incident involving a violation of a protective order at a residence on Abbie Glenn Lane.

Smith was already out on bond for seven counts of violating a protective order and one count of cyberstalking. As a condition of his bond, he was required to wear a court-ordered GPS monitoring device and was prohibited from going to the victim's residence, school, or workplace. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim and to remain at least 1,000 feet away from a designated residence. This order was signed and became effective on June 22, 2026.

Investigators discovered that on August 5, 2026, Smith returned to the restricted residence. His presence triggered the home's burglary alarm and alerted the monitoring company. Furthermore, investigators learned that Smith allegedly attempted to place video surveillance equipment inside the residence, causing the fire alarm to activate.

Security camera footage captured Smith at both the residence and the entrance to the community where the home is located. The GPS monitoring records and notification alerts confirmed that Smith had entered an area from which he was prohibited.

During the investigation, detectives collaborated with the victim and Bossier City Police Officer DeLeo to collect and verify evidence related to the incident. They determined that Smith allegedly removed several items from the residence, including a pet.

Due to Smith's repeated violations of protective orders and disregard for court-ordered restrictions, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging him with one count of violating a protective order and one count of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. The warrant was signed by Honorable Judge Chris Victory, and no bond was set at that time.

On August 8, 2026, Smith was located at Live Casino in Bossier City. Caddo Parish detectives contacted the Bossier City Police Department, who assisted in taking Smith into custody.

Smith was initially booked into the Bossier City Jail before being transferred into the custody of the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office. He was then transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on the aforementioned charges.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office appreciates the assistance and cooperation of the victim, the Bossier City Police Department, and all other agencies involved in the investigation. This collaboration allowed the investigators to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the case to a swift resolution.
