Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office detectives have arrested a man in connection with the sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl, according to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.

The investigation began after deputies received a report from a mother who discovered during a medical appointment that her daughter was pregnant. 

During the investigation, the juvenile disclosed that Benjamin Marsh, 33, who was temporarily staying with the family, had sexually assaulted her, resulting in the pregnancy.

Authorities subsequently obtained a warrant for a DNA reference sample from Marsh to help determine the biological father of the child. With assistance from Patrol Sgt. Frizzell and Deputy Brown, Marsh was located at the Economy Inn on Monkhouse Drive in Shreveport. 

He was transported to the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division, where Detective Ardion interviewed him. After the interview, there was enough probable cause to arrest Marsh for carnal knowledge of a juvenile. He was then transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked for the aforementioned charge. The investigation is ongoing.
