August Youth Diversion Classes Offer Positive Path for Teens

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office is inviting parents and guardians to bring their pre-teens and teens to a free youth diversion program designed to help young people make positive choices.

Two class session options will be offered in August. Teens can attend either Saturday, August 22, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. or Monday, August 24, and Tuesday, August 25, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The program is geared toward youth who may be facing challenges related to peer pressure, behavioral issues, substance abuse, gun violence, or other factors that can place them at risk. Through education, discussion, and mentorship, teens will learn strategies for making responsible decisions, developing positive relationships, and avoiding behaviors that can lead to involvement in the criminal justice system.

Parents and guardians who believe their child could benefit from the program are encouraged to sign them up for the class. For additional information, contact Deputy Vernita Williams at 318-681-0869.
