Teller arrested for taking money from customer's accounts

A former teller at a local credit union was arrested on Tuesday for making unauthorized withdrawals from customers' accounts, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Emily Wells, 27, of the 3200 block of Tom Lee Street, was arrested by Caddo Sheriff's Detective Bobby Herring for bank fraud. She was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.

Wells used her personal computer sign-on to access customer accounts and her assigned register key to take cash. She then debited the cash withdraws from the customer accounts to avoid detection by auditors. Bank officials learned of the unauthorized withdrawals after they were detected by one of the customers.

Wells made at least six withdrawals from two customer accounts in November and December of 2008. Approximately $1,140 was taken in all.
