Teens report burglary but ultimately go down for the heist

A group of teens who reported a residential burglary in Keithville have now been charged in connection with the crime.

On Tuesday, two teens reported seeing a man wearing a ski mask running from a neighbor's house in the 6700 block of Williams Road. The house had been broken into and several items were missing, including a flat-screen TV, a camera, and jewelry.

Caddo Sheriff's Cpl. Russell Hicks said deputies responded and searched the area with a K-9 but could find no sign of the alleged suspect. Deputies processed the house for evidence and questioned the teens at length.

Early this morning, 18-year-old Micah Prewitt of Haughton called the Sheriff's Office and told deputies he was ready to turn himself in.Patrol deputies found him walking on Mansfield Road and took him into custody.

Hicks said Prewitt confessed to the Williams Road break-in and said he stashed the stolen goods at his friend's house, which backs up to the residence that was burglarized. Afterward, his friends reported the burglary but provided false information about the suspect to mislead authorities.

Prewitt was booked into Caddo Correctional Center for burglary. Garrett Scott Lacy, 18, of Keithville, and Jeremy Parmer, 18, of Shreveport, were arrested for accessory after the fact to burglary and criminal mischief for providing false information.

Jacob Griffin, 17, of Shreveport, and Paul Delgado, 18, of Shreveport, also were arrested for accessory after fact to burglary for transporting the stolen items to Prewitt's house in Haughton.

Most of the stolen property was recovered by the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say at least two of the suspects remain under investigation for numerous residential burglaries in south Shreveport.
