Teens arrested for smashing mailboxes
Three teenagers were arrested Tuesday morning for property damage after they smashed more than 20 mailboxes on Roy Road and Shreveport-Blanchard Highway.
Caddo Sheriff's deputies were called to investigate the first report around 3 a.m. The victim said the suspects were several males driving a truck. While investigating the complaint, Sgt. Glenn Cornell and Deputy Chris Wray stopped a truck on Shreveport-Blanchard Highway and located the suspects with a baseball bat in their vehicle. The suspects later admitted striking "too many (mailboxes) to count."
Arrested were Stephen B. Thompson, 17, of Heflin; Harvey S. Gingles, 17, of Shreveport; and Steven M. Bailey, 17, of Shreveport. All were charged with property damage in an amount over $500.
Deputies say it's unknown exactly how many mailboxes were damaged since reports are still being filed.
