Caddo deputies recover houseful of furniture

Imagine coming home from a trip and finding everything gone, right down to the curtains on the windows and the pictures on the walls. That's what happened to one Shreveport woman in September.

But today, her furniture was recovered by detectives with the Caddo Sheriff's Office. Pamela Raphiel, 42, is in jail for the illegal possession of the stolen items, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Sheriff's Detective Andy Scoggins obtained a search warrant for Raphiel's residence at 3154 Judson Street in Shreveport. Inside the house, Scoggins and other detectives found all the stolen goods, including a full living room set, bedroom set, big screen television, surround sound system, DVD player, artificial ficus trees, wall hangings, mirrors, and curtains. Raphiel was using the furniture as if it were her own.

Scoggins said the furnishings were traded for cash and drugs by John Nicholas Steve, who was a house guest of the victim at the time. While the victim was out of town, Raphiel and Steve loaded up a moving truck, leaving little for the victim to return home to.

Steve, 29, of Palm Coast, FL, was arrested in Flagler County on a Caddo warrant for theft and forgery. He was returned to the Caddo Correctional Center on March 11.

Also arrested today was Cornelia Raphiel, 43, for possession of schedule II narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
