Caddo Sheriff introduces warrants on line

The Caddo Sheriff's Office website now features the names and photographs of people wanted by the sheriff's Warrants Division, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Beginning today, active Caddo Sheriff's Office warrants dating back to January 2009 can be viewed at www.caddosheriff.org. The list includes arrest warrants and bench warrants which are issued for failing to comply with a court order.

Approximately 250 warrants are listed, but Prator said older warrants may be added in the future. The list includes misdemeanors and felonies. No juvenile information is included.

On-line information includes a photograph of the offender when available, the criminal charge, and any fees that are outstanding.

"The goal is not always to put the offender in jail," Prator said. "It may just be that they neglected to pay a fine. Whatever their reason for non-compliance, we want these cases closed, and using the website offers maximum exposure."

The Caddo Sheriff's Office was also the first in the area to use its website for on-line payment of taxes, fines, and tickets, to participate in sheriff's sales, and to view currently housed jail inmates and a list of local sex offenders.

Anyone with information regarding the location of a person shown with an outstanding warrant is cautioned not to attempt to take them into custody. Contact the Caddo Sheriff's Office at 675-2170.
