A Shreveport woman believed to be part of a two-state forgery ring was arrested today on multiple charges.
Ashley Nicole Lee, 18, was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on 11 counts of forgery and one count of bank fraud for negotiating counterfeit checks at several Shreveport-Bossier businesses. She was also charged with an outstanding warrant for simple battery and as being an in-state fugitive.
Lee received the counterfeit checks from a Texas man who recruited over 25 people locally to negotiate the fake checks. She cashed over $10,000 in counterfeit checks and received half the money in return, according to detectives.
Lee was arrested following an investigation by Caddo Sheriff's Detectives Bobby Herring and Frank Edmondson, and Shreveport Police Detectives Jeff Gilmour, Jared Woods, and Jason Frazier, all of the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force.
