A former receptionist at the Highland Clinic was arrested Monday for stealing cash received from patients, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Laura Ferrell, 29, of the 2500 block of Pinehurst Blvd., was arrested on a warrant obtained by Sheriff’s Detective Bobby Herring. She was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for felony theft.

Herring said his investigation showed that Ferrell was stealing cash payments and manipulating computer records to conceal the thefts. Patients began complaining when they were turned over to the collection office. The clinic conducted an audit, which led to the discovery of the missing cash and deleted computer records. The amount of theft was $4,946.
