Charges mount for man with stolen property

Charges continue to mount for a man accused of selling stolen guns in Caddo Parish, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Earlier today, Caddo Detective Michael Escude' added seven counts of illegal possession of a stolen firearm to charges now facing Donald Southerland, 34, of Bossier City. Southerland is in jail at Caddo Correctional Center accused of trying to sell guns taken in a burglary off LA Hwy. 169 in south Caddo Parish.

Detectives have been investigating Southerland's involvement in seven burglaries that occurred in the area of Hwy. 169 and Hwy. 789 from late February to mid-March. Detectives have recovered some of the items pawned by Southerland but say Southerland also sold much of the stolen property to unsuspecting individuals.

Southerland was arrested in March on five counts of illegal possession of stolen things, four counts of illegal possession of stolen firearms, five counts of theft, and one count of burglary.

If anyone recognizes Southerland as the man who sold or attempted to sell them property, contact the Caddo Sheriff's Office at 681-0700. Escude' said persons possessing items sold by Southerland will not face charges if they are returned. Please click here to view Southerland's picture.
