Caddo Sheriff offers teen course on distracted and impaired driving
Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator is offering a course for teenagers on the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.
The safety course focuses on distractions including texting, cell phones, and music, and on different forms of impairment such as alcohol and drug use. Part of the course includes operating an electric vehicle while wearing impairment goggles that simulate the effects of driving under the influence, Prator said.
Teens can attend any one of three sessions to be held on Friday, June 8, from 9 - 10:30 a.m., noon to 1:30 p.m., or 2 to 3:30 p.m. Participants must have either a valid driver's license, a learner's permit, or have successfully completed a driver's education course. Pre-registration is required by calling Sheriff's Safety Town at 698-7233.
