The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office Fleet Management Division is located at 4910 North Market Street. It serves the needs of the entire department and is the primary staging location for all Special Operations (SRT, Search and Rescue, Hazardous Materials) equipment. Reserve and auxiliary units, as well as department pool vehicles, are also located at 4910. Recovered stolen property and vehicles seized during drug arrests are stored at this location pending court adjudication.
The automotive shop at 4910 provides fleet services that include preventive maintenance, vehicle repair, detailing, new unit preparation, retired unit regression, and vehicle recycling. With the exception of paint and body work, most work can be completed in-house. Five employees maintain a fleet of nearly 300 vehicles that includes cars, trucks, boats, four-wheelers, generators, lawn equipment, a tractor and one large armored personnel carrier.
On August 1, 2000, the 4910 location became a full-service substation, providing citizens with an additional location to obtain offense reports, pay tickets and court fines or obtain hunting and fishing licenses.
Fleet Management is also responsible for maintaining Sheriff's Office building and grounds. The organization currently maintains seven locations: four substations, Criminal Investigations, Organized Crime, and the Training Academy where work was recently completed on the firing range.
The goal of Fleet Management is to provide the citizens of Caddo Parish the best possible service to "their" equipment. The director of Fleet Services and Building and Grounds is Lt. Jim Manners. Mike Gregory serves as the automotive shop manager.
