MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Because of its law enforcement mission, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office has certain qualifications for all employees. An applicant must meet the following criteria:

• Be a citizen of the United States
• Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
• Possess a high school diploma or the equivalent
• Be willing to work shift work

• Be able to pass various exams:

  Reading comprehension

  Physical Fitness Test

  Interview

  Pre-polygraph exam

  Extensive background investigation

  Post-polygraph exam

  Psychological exam

  Medical exam and drug screen

Candidates must be aware that commissioned deputies wear and are required to become proficient in the use of firearms. Such training is tested at the Academy, particularly the use of a semi-automatic pistol. Applicants should also realize their own convictions toward carrying and possibly using a sidearm in the line of duty.
