SELECTION PROCEDURE

Several steps are involved in the selection process. You may expect the process to take a minimum of sixty (60) days. Successful completion of all steps involved does not guarantee that you will be employed. If you are not among the applicants selected, you will receive written notification within thirty (30) days after selections are made. CPSO reserves the right to terminate the process at any time without notification to the applicant as to the reason why.

Steps To Application:

• Complete the pre-employment questionnaire and return the document to the Personnel Division.
• Pass the reading comprehension test.
• Upon passing the reading comprehension test, the applicant is scheduled for the first physical fitness test, a tour of the Caddo Correctional Center, and a panel interview date. (Each step is mandatory.)

Steps After Application:

• Interview.
• Criminal history and background investigation.
• Polygraph examination.
• Psychological tests.
• Medical examination and drug screening test.

Currently the Personnel Division requires corrections candidates to complete four physical fitness tests. All applicants for a line deputy position must be able to meet the 30% mark (entry level) to pass these physical fitness tests. Individuals are tested by sex and age group in flexibility, strength, and endurance in order to continue through the selection process. Failure to keep this percentage up will either delay or terminate your chances for a slot in the Academy. Information on the Physical Fitness testing is provided in the application.
