Sheriff names Sheila Davis first black female lieutenant
Caddo Parish Sheriff Don Hathaway today named Sheriff's Sgt. Sheila Taylor Davis the agency's first ever black female lieutenant. In her new assignment, Davis will be a shift commander at the Caddo Correctional Center.

From November 1993 to October 1994, she was a shift supervisor, and was a booking supervisor until January 1996. She served as the inmate grievance sergeant since January 1996.
Davis is a correctional instructor certified by both the Louisiana Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Council and the American Correctional Association. The Shreveport resident served on the Deputy and Supervisor of the Quarter Advisory Board from January 1997 to January 1998.
A Huntington High School graduate, Davis earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Houston and a master's degree in criminal justice from Grambling State University. She is also a licensed Notary Public in Caddo and Bossier Parishes.
