A Bernice, La., man died from injuries he suffered in a one-vehicle accident at about Noon today on U.S. 79 about three miles south of U.S. 80 near Greenwood.

Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Richard Lopez said 52-year-old Alvin Y. Green, Jr., of Harper Street in Bernice, was northbound on U.S. 79 when his 1995 Ford pickup truck veered off the right side of the road and hit a tree head-on. The Life Air Rescue helicopter airlifted Green to LSU Medical Center where he was dead on arrival.

The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the cause and manner of death.
