Sheriff Hathaway withdraws from re-election bid
Caddo Parish Sheriff Don Hathaway announced today that he is withdrawing from a bid for a sixth term as the chief law enforcement officer of Caddo Parish.
"After prayerful consideration and meetings with my family over the weekend," Sheriff Hathaway said at a news conference this morning, "I have decided not to seek re-election. My heart simply isn’t in it."
The five-term Sheriff was first elected to the post in 1979 and has served as Sheriff of Caddo Parish since 1980. He will have serve as Sheriff for 20 years when his current term expires at midnight on June 30, 2000.
