Sheriff’s investigators identify Saturday homicide victim

Caddo Parish Sheriff’s investigators have identified the homicide victim found by a railroad employee Saturday evening.

Sheriff’s Investigator Kay Ward said the Union Pacific Railroad worker saw the body of Johnny D. Broadway, 17, of 160 W. Wyandotte Street, at about 5 p.m. Saturday. Ward said the victim’s body was found near a stolen car on the levy in a wooded area near the railroad tracks behind the Caddo Parish Animal Shelter on Monty Street.

Ward said Sheriff’s investigators believe Broadway died sometime Saturday from an apparent gunshot wound and that the death remains under investigation as a homicide. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office is conducting an investigation to determine the cause and manner of death.

Anyone with information about Broadway or the circumstances surrounding his death is urged to contact Sheriff’s Investigator Kay Ward at 675-2170.
