A head-on collision at about 4:40 p.m. today in the 4000 block of Colquitt Road left a Keithville woman dead and two other people hospitalized.

Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Deputy April Wright said Velma Howard, 56, of 10541 Pineview Circle in Keithville, was westbound on Colquitt when her 1995 Ford Explorer veered into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a 1996 Dodge pickup truck. Howard was dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck, Donald Woodruff, 64, of 8905 Adams Road in Keithville, was taken by Balentine Ambulance Service to Willis-Knighton South Hospital where he was listed as stable and still under evaluation at 7:15 p.m.

The passenger in the pickup truck, Deborah Sims Miller, 50, of 8905 Adams Road in Keithville, was airlifted to LSU Medical Center by the Life Air Rescue helicopter. She was still under evaluation at 7:15 p.m.
