Sheriff promotes two to captain
Caddo Parish Sheriff Don Hathaway has promoted two of his deputies, Michael A. Sullivan and Jay R. Wright, to the rank of captain.
Sullivan, a 38-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, began his career as a tax collector. He has also been a civil process server and is currently the Sheriff’s executive assistant. He served on the Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team from 1961 to 1980 and on the Water Safety Demonstration Team from 1964 to 1975. He was named the Exchange Club’s Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 1982.
A 23-year Sheriff’s Office veteran, Wright has served as a civil deputy, patrol deputy, investigator and narcotics agent. He has been a patrol sergeant and lieutenant, a probation and parole supervisor and has worked in Identification and Crime Scene Analysis. He is currently head of the Special Services Division, where he directs the internal affairs, risk management and background investigation units. He has been the leader of the Sheriff’s Dive Team and was a Pistol Team member for 10 years. He has also participated in the Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol Unit.
