Two arrested in armed robbery, shooting

Caddo Parish Sheriff’s deputies, K-9 units and Aviation Unit search an area of Keithville for about two hours Friday before apprehending and arresting two Shreveport men in connection with an armed robbery and the shooting of a 76-year-old man.

Sheriff’s Investigator Jay Long said that at about 1 p.m. Friday, two men entered a residence on Keithville-Kingston Road in southern Caddo Parish brandishing pistols and demanding money. The men, later identified as Derrick Demetrick Duncan, 20, of 7100 Janey Street, and Antonio Deshawn Green, 19, of 7021 Janey Street, got into a struggle with and shot the resident before being chased away from the home by the victim’s daughter, who was apparently shot at by the men, but missed.

Sheriff’s patrol deputies, investigators, K-9 units and Aviation Unit searched the area for about two hours before flushing out and apprehending Duncan and Green. Long said both men are being charged with armed robbery and attempted first degree murder. The two were booked at the Caddo Correctional Center at about 9:30 p.m.

The victim was transported by Balentine Ambulance Service to LSU Medical Center, where he was treated for a gunshot wound in his right hip and released at about 4 p.m. Friday.

The incident remains under investigation by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.
