A 25-year-old Plano, Texas, woman died from injuries she suffered in a car-truck collision Sunday on U.S. 171 in Keithville in South Caddo Parish.

Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Owen McDonnell said Leandra Rae Riley, 25, of Plano, Texas, was driving a rented 1999 Chevrolet Impala northbound on U.S. 171 at about 10:45 a.m. Sunday when she made a left turn at Old Mansfield Road (in front of the Keithville School) into the path of a southbound 18-wheeler. Riley was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel from Caddo Fire District No. 6 and was transported from the scene by Balentine Ambulance Service. She was dead on arrival at LSU Health Science Center. Riley had been visiting relatives in Keithville.

The driver of the flatbed 18-wheeler, John Bradley Evans, 25, of Leesville, was uninjured.

McDonnell said the accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
