Ida Woman dies from injuries in two-vehicle crash

A 74-year-old Ida woman died from injuries she suffered in a two-vehicle accident today on La. 1 north of Vivian.

Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Jamie McLamb said Leslie Gladney, 74, of 18678 Means Road in Ida, was the passenger in a car driven by her son, 58-year-old Woodrow Gladney, also of 18678 Means Road in Ida. McLamb said the Gladneys were southbound in a 1989 Nissan Centra on La. 1 at about 9:20 a.m. today a mile and a half north of Vivian. McLamb said Woodrow Gladney was attempting to make a left turn into a driveway when he pulled into the path of a northbound 1978 Ford box truck.

Leslie Gladney was taken by ambulance to North Caddo Medical Center in Vivian, where she died at about 11:15 a.m. Woodrow Gladney was airlifted by Life Air Rescue Helicopter to LSU Health Science Center, where he was listed in fair condition at 12:30 p.m.

The driver of the box truck, 65-year-old Cecil Brand, and his two passengers, Jason Dale, 24, and Robert Eman, 41, all of Vivian, were treated and released from North Caddo Medical Center.

McLamb issued Woodrow Gladney citations for failure to yield and driving under suspension, and a summons for negligent injuring.
