Man found in river had hands cuffed behind his back
The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office said today that the body of the man recovered from the Red River Tuesday by Caddo Parish Sheriff’s deputies had his hands handcuffed behind his back.
A Coroner’s Office news release issued at about 4 p.m. today went on to say that it is not known how the body got into the Red River and (determination of) the cause of death is pending.
In the Sheriff’s Office news release issued Tuesday afternoon, Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Lt. Bill Duncan said a boater on the river spotted the body at about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday and contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Duncan said members of the Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team recovered the man’s body, which was floating along the west bank of the river about a quarter mile south of the Shreveport-Barksdale Bridge.
Duncan, supervisor of the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Unit, said the incident is being investigated as a homicide.
