Data Processing
Employees in the Data Processing Division managed several special projects in the past year while maintaining day-to-day operations, a major part of which was responding to more than 7,500 calls for support from computer end-users in more than 30 Sheriff's Office organizations.
Two of the special projects involved the purchase and installation of new software for the Accounting and Tax Divisions. Those installations should be completed by the end of 1996.
Data Processing computerized the Sheriff's Office substations and upgraded the computer systems in the Hazardous Materials Van. Work also began on computerizing the agency's new Training Center and Armory located at Red River Lock and Dam No. 5.
Data Processing also developed the cur-riculum to train programmers in-house. This program gives employees new career advancement opportunities.
The Sheriff's Office "logged on" to the Internet in early 1996. Data Processing began planning with News Media Relations and other divisions to develop a web site for the Sheriff's Office.
So, we'll "see you on the net."
