Operations Bureau Report

The Operations Bureau has expanded and grown this fiscal year. Additions to the bureau include crime prevention programming, School Resource Officers, D.A.R.E. Officers and the Court Liaison Department.

Embracing the Community Oriented Policing philosophy and decentralization have proven to be quite successful. The South Substation has been expanded to include a larger area for meetings and interview rooms. These improvements enable Sheriff's Office employees to provide better service more efficiently to the citizens of Southern Caddo Parish.

In the spring, the bureau presented a delivery of services analysis to the Sheriff and Chief Deputy. Each division in the bureau had an opportunity to "show its stuff" in presentations and hands-on demonstration of all the services the bureau uses to protect and serve the parish's citizens.

In the continuing commitment to law-enforcement issues, the Water Patrol has become a welcome sight to boaters up and down the Red River. Like the Water Patrol, the Search and Rescue, K-9 and Special Response Teams have been instrumental in servicing other agencies and stand to be recognized as being among the best in the country.

In delivering the services that Caddo Parish citizens so richly deserve, it is still our overarching task to prioritize our customer service, problem-solving and community involvement. In continuously evaluating these priorities, we strive to maintain our vision to be among the best law enforcement agencies in this part of the country.

-- Marshall Nelson

Assistant Chief of Operations
