Tax Division employees are constantly striving for better ways to provide prompt and efficient service to Caddo Parish property owners.
Preparing for the transition to a new computer software program, division employees attended training classes for the new software while maintaining normal business operations.
After searching for software to compute the redemption of property sold or adjudicated during tax sales and finding none, employees used a popular spreadsheet to develop their own program. As a result, employees now use personal computers to calculate redemptions in one-tenth the time and with greater accuracy. Moreover, the computer-generated worksheets are easier to read and provide more information than the old handwritten forms.
The division also collected more than $245,500 in special taxes for Caddo Parish fire districts. Tax Division employees mailed special notices and Data Processing Division employees developed special software programs to accommodate the collection of these taxes.
