Traffic Fatalities (all transportation-related deaths)
- (Feb. 14 - 2:30 a.m.) Alverlyn Marie Elzie, 37, of
6700 Colquitt Road in Keithville. Son driving, struck a culvert
head-on, car burst into flames.[0214-01]
- (Feb. 18 - 2:45 a.m.) Matthew Robert Schraeder, 17,
of the 15000 block of State Line Road. Died instantly in head-on
collision. Struck on Cass County Road, 5 mile west of Vivian.[0218-01]
- (Feb. 24 - 7:11 a.m.) Jerome Williams, 40, of Port
Allen. Collided with KCS train.[0224-01]
- (March 9 - 2:00 a.m.) Lorie Ellen Kirkpatrick, 26,
of the 8000 block of Dixie-Blanchard Road. One-car accident on
Blanchard Road near Industry Drive. Carr believed too be going
at high rate of speed. Found collapsed around a tree.[0309-01]
- (April 27 - 6:00 a.m.) James Elliott Plunkett, 60, of
the 4100 block of Fox Drive in Fort Worth, TX. Rammed into 18-wheeler
at the weigh station on I-20, a mile east of Texas state line.

- (Aug. 29 - 3:15 p.m.) David O. Lafferty, 56, of Shreveport.
Head-on collisioon on La. Hwy. 1 south of Caspiana.[0829-01]
- (Aug. 29 - 3:15 p.m.) Maxine G. Dickerson, 64, of Coushatta.
Hit head-on by another driver on La. Hwy. 1 south of Caspiana.

- (Nov. 6 - 9:45 p.m.) Victor J. Cascio, 47, of 6329
Garden Oaks in Shreveport, found dead at the scene on La. Hwy
169, about 3 1/2 miles north of I-20. [1106-01]
- (Nov. 9 - 3:48 a.m.) Elmore "Jack" Allen, 82,
of Greenwood, unavoidable accident on La.169, mile south of U.S.
80. Was walking on hwy. while struck. [1109-01
and -02]
- (Dec. 7 - 10:00 p.m.) Jeffery Leon Norsworthy, 30,
of 620 W. Nevada in Vivian. Lost controol, ejected form vehicle,
broke gas line, found dead at scene near La. Hwy. 538 south of
Oil City. [1207-01]

Melissa Funderburk, 9, of 3800 block of Greenwood/Mooringspot
Road. Child and younger brother playing with a firearm causing
it to discharge, striking the child.[0109-01]
- INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT AT UOP (Jan. 30 - 10:30
a.m.) Galen V. Johnson, 42, Shreveport. Was assembling a crane
before beginning work when accident occured. Accident under investigation.

- HOUSE FIRE (Feb. 19 - 12:15 a.m.) Corrine
Harris, 87, of 11329 Gamm Road. Death caused by apparent smoke
inhalation, cause of firre unknown.[0219-01]
- HOUSE FIRE (Feb. 19 - 12:15 a.m.) Alonzo
Harris, 86, of 11329 Gamm Road. Death caused by apparent smoke
inhalation, cause of firre unknown.[0219-01]
- DROWNING (July 13 - 3:20 p.m.) Joseph Lane
Moore, 34, of Lafayette, LA. Experienced problems while swimming
across pond. Doing a study for the National Biological Services.

- HIT AND RUN (Aug. 5 - 2:30 a.m.) Larry Thomas,
38, of Belcher. Found dead at scene on La. Hwy. 2 west of Hosston

- MOBILE HOME FIRE (Dec. 29 - time unknown)
Michael O. Rainwater, 46, of 3574 Cassity Road. died inside
mobile home. Cause of fire unknown.[1229-01]
