Operation Lifesaver program offered at substation

Caddo Parish Sheriff Don Hathaway announces Operation Lifesaver program to be offered at the Oil City substation September 6.

Operation Lifesaver is a nationwide, non-profit public education and information program dedicated to reducing collisions, injuries and fatalities at highway-rail crossings. The program was established by the Union Pacific Railroad in 1972 after highway-rail crossing related crashes escalated to over 1,200 annually. Since implementation or the program highway-rail crossing accidents and deaths have been reduced over 50%, according to an article recently released by the Houston branch.

The speaker for the event will be Mr. Harry Stewart, a Locomotive Engineer, representing Union Pacific Railroad. The event is open to the public.
