The letter falsely identifies the Parish of Caddo as the property's "owner" and includes a phone number and email address, encouraging recipients to seek information and arrange to redeem the property. The Sheriff's Office advises residents to exercise caution and independently verify the notice's legitimacy before providing any personal information or making payments.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office has confirmed that this letter is a scam and strongly recommends that citizens do not rely solely on the contact information provided in the letter.

Residents who receive this or a similar letter should take the following precautions:

1. Do not send money or provide any personal or financial information until you have verified the notice independently.
2. Do not assume the letter is legitimate just because it references Louisiana law, property descriptions, parcel numbers, or government offices.
3. Verify any claims directly with the appropriate government agency using contact information obtained from an official government website or another trusted source, rather than using the phone number or email address provided in the letter.
4. Consult a qualified attorney if you have questions about property ownership, delinquent taxes, adjudicated property, or your legal rights.

The Sheriff's Office takes reports of suspected scams very seriously and encourages residents to share this warning with family members, neighbors, and anyone who may be vulnerable to fraudulent mail.
